On June 2 and 3, representatives of the youth clubs from Bulgaria and Serbia, created under the YOUTHPartNET project, met each other in Momin Prohod and Kostenets. The guests were welcomed by Boyka Kichukova (project manager) and the Geo Milev 1954 People’s Community Center team, where they presented traditions and elements of the local population’s life, and traditional food (breads, banitsa and other delicacies).
The youth attended the restoration of customs and rituals related to the Midsummer holiday. The ritual is connected with the summer solstice, when picking a bunch of herbs bathed in morning dew brings health. The girls from Dance formation “Vayalet” at the People’s Community Center “Progress 1907”, Kostenets, enchanted with the beauty of their dance of fairy-tale samodives. After the visit to the Community Center, everyone knitted together belts with the colors of the Bulgarian and Serbian flags.
After that, the group visited the town of Kostenets – Community Center “Progress 1907”, “Georgi Sava Rakovski” Vocational School and “St. Kliment Ohridski” School, on the territory of which three of the Bulgarian youth clubs operate.
The official guest of the event in “Geo Milev – 1954” was Mrs. Margarita Mincheva – deputy mayor of Kostenets municipality.
